Got Skills?

I was reading the profile of a guy from one of the dating websites and he included a statement that he attributed to Bishop T.D. Jakes. It said:
"Even though MANY of you are fine enough to get married, you are single because you don't have the SKILLSET that is required to be a wife."

interesting...

Skillset huh?

I guess I should do a few man-on-the-street interviews and ask guys about this SKILLSET — you know, what they look for in a wife. And maybe I should ask some of my married girlfriends about this skillset.

What yall think? Do you think you're single because you don't have the SKILLSET that is required to be a wife? Do you know what those skills are?

holla at me...

That's interesting. I don't think I have the SKILLSET. I think I have some tools in the kit and have an idea of what's missing from the tool box, but from everything that I've seen and heard about marriage, no one goes in fully prepared for what joining with another person will entail. The main skillset I think both parties should have is the ability to work at a relationship, because it's not for the faint of heart, no matter how much you love one another. I'd be interested to know, myself, what the required skillset is.

Does that brother laying out all the "knowledge" about how sisters are lacking have the skillset to be a husband?

I've said this time and time again, I get tired of brothers expecting women to show them what kind of wife they will be before they even offer up a ring, but sistas are supposed to take it on faith that a man will be a good husband. Bump that.

Different relationships require different strengths at different times so the most important "skillset" would be flexibility and communication.
